We took on the mission to transform the Metropolitan Police Service’s job application website into a smooth and user-friendly experience. The project aimed to redesign the site’s layout and interface to make navigation easier, enhance visual appeal, and create a more accessible and engaging platform for potential applicants. From clear call-to-actions to an intuitive job tracking dashboard, the goal was to ensure the site attracted new talent and made the application process simple and seamless across all devices.
The original website suffered from inconsistent design, poor navigation, and overwhelming information clutter. Users struggled to find what they needed due to unclear visual hierarchy, alignment issues, and a lack of intuitive pathways, often leading to frustration and even drop-offs during the application process.
The main challenges were refining a chaotic and outdated interface into something clean and modern while ensuring it remained functional for all users. Balancing accessibility, responsive design for multiple devices, and creating a smooth journey for new and experienced applicants required thoughtful planning, testing, and collaboration between designers and developers.
The redesigned platform introduced a fresh, flat design style, streamlined navigation, and a clear structure that improved the entire application flow. The new design emphasized simplicity and clarity using a neutral yet professional color palette, modern typography, and flexible grid layouts. Dedicated pages for job listings and events, and a user-friendly dashboard made the site feel more welcoming and efficient, ultimately helping the Metropolitan Police Service to present itself as a modern and approachable employer.
